What is evening primrose oil?
The evening primrose plant was first introduced to Europe in the 17th century where it was soon nicknamed the 'King's cure−all'. In North America however, indigenous tribes had already been using the plant as a food and medicinal crop for hundreds of years. The oil is obtained from the evening primrose Oenothera biennis L., a wild plant native to northern America that bears no relation to the UK's native wild primrose. The beautiful evening primrose flower blooms for a single day, but the oil from its seeds helps you bloom year after year. The plant produces an oil rich in the omega 6 fatty acids GLA (gamma linolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid).

You must ensure the right levels of Evening Primrose Oil are taken in order to reap its benefits. Our nutritionists advise 1000 mg per day as a cosmetic supplement, and 2000 mg (four capsules) per day over a period of three to four months as an ideal intake. Up to six capsules daily may be taken before the onset of periods.
