What are plant sterols?
The clue is in the name: plant sterols (also known as phytosterols): 'Plant-' - as they come from fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds; and '-sterols' indicates that they are similar to cholesterol - which we find in our own bodies.
Why choose Healthspan's Plant Sterols 800mg tablets?
Due to the similarity to cholesterol, plant sterols can stop cholesterol from the things you eat being absorbed in the small intestine. As a result, plant sterols can keep your cholesterol levels at the normal level, or - even better, help lower your blood cholesterol* and thus reduce a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. It's a convenient way to get your recommended daily intake without the added calories or fat found in sterol-enriched margarine or dairy produce.
